These system tests are defined in the @code{(gnu tests @dots{})} modules. They work by running the operating systems under test with lightweight instrumentation in a virtual machine (VM). In order to keep a sane working environment, you will find it useful to test the changes made in your local source tree checkout without actually installing them. So that you can distinguish between your ``end-user'' hat and your ``motley'' costume.

This is only a note and you can safely ignore it. You can get rid of the message by running @command{make -j4}. Until you do, Guile will run slightly slower because it will interpret the code instead of using prepared Guile object (@file{.go}) files.
