*Authselect* is een gereedschap voor het configureren van systeemidentiteit, authenticatiebronnen
en aanbieders door middel van het selecteren van een specifiek profiel. Een profiel is een verzameling
van bestanden die beschrijft hoe de resulterende systeemconfiguratie eruit zal zien. Wanneer een profiel
is geselecteerd, zal *authselect* nsswitch.conf en een PAM-stack aanmaken om de identiteits- en
authenticatiebronnen te gebruiken die worden gedefinieerd door het profiel.
